Position Description

Scientific Games Austin game studio is seeking for an Artist with out of this world illustration talent to work on the popular Gold Fish Casino product.

The successful candidate is an experienced game art generalist with particular strength/emphasis on illustration (a plus if applies to mobile casino slots). Artists will spend most of their time creating features and art assets that compliment and enhance the slot players’ experience. The ability to work quickly and efficiently as part of a team, take direction, and maintain a positive attitude under pressure is crucial. Artists are expected to be well-versed in industry standard software especially Adobe CC. Artists are also expected to have strong abilities in graphic design, composition, drawing, illustration and layout.


• Create high quality art including but not limited to general UI, Slot Icons, Promotional Sales, Feature Pop-Ups and Entertaining GIFs
• Work closely with Senior Artist, producing high-quality art in an iterative process
• Ability to quickly sketch and story board to communicate ideas to art team and beyond
• Participate in collaborative environment, receiving and giving constructive criticism to the art team and beyond
• Efficient and self motivated; able to work independently and produce high quality art within given time estimates
• Continually hone artistic and professional skills via learning from other team members, independent learning and company training

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Keep working files tidy and well organized to facilitate file sharing and collaborative work. (i.e. name all layers, use layer comps, etc.)
• Ability to implement final game art in Unity
• Ability to collaborate with software engineers on a regular basis
• Competency and diligence in the use of version control software
• Ability to document new processes and features
• UI and Character animation (2D and 3D) and visual FX

Position Requirements

1 year previous experience as an Associate Artist or 1 year experience as a Staff Artist in a production environment

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Excellent drawing and illustration skills
• Excellent composition, color choice and all that good art stuff skillz
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud especially Photoshop and Illustrator
• Experience using Unity (or any game engine)
• Experienced with 3D software a smaller plus…but still a plus (3D Studio Max)
• Knowledge of spine and character rigging a smaller plus (see above)
• Ability to match disparate art styles and licensed IPs
• Manage git feature branches and associated assets using SourceTree
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of mobile layout and design
• Familiarity with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Stash, etc.)
• Knowledge of MS Office
