Location: Georgetown: 3101 S/E Inner Loop, Texas
Department:Building Maintenance
Performs architectural planning, design, and project management duties for Williamson County facilities; manages new building, remodel and building additions/projects.
  • Conducts facility needs assessment for the County
  • Coordinates with architects, engineers, elected officials, county/city staff and agencies in planning, design, estimating and construction of building projects
  • Prepares architectural designs for small projects, technical specifications, Requests for Qualifications, reports and gives oral presentations
  • Negotiates contracts and manages professional service contracts with architects and engineers for facility projects
  • Serves on selection committees for recommending professional services and contractors for projects
  • Manages a small team of construction project managers
  • Reports directly to – Senior Director of Facilities
  • Direct Reports –Project Managers
  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Requires bending, kneeling, crawling and maneuvering in and around all kinds of equipment
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds to waist height
  • Requires the ability to see and hear as well as perceive colors
  • Must be able to write and read to a size 10 font
  • Ability to work in high stress, fast paced environment
  • Works in all kinds of indoor and outdoor environments, including inclement weather
  • Must be prepared to work in attics, crawl spaces and on rooftops
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, bacteria, fungus and high noise levels must be expected

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • Current registration in good standing as an Architect in the State of Texas
  • Seven years of professional architecture facility design, including two years of supervisor experience
  • Highly proficient in utilizing a commercially available computer aided design software to prepare architectural plans
  • Demonstrated ability to read specifications, technical manuals, blueprints and other construction related material in electronic and hard copy form
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, city staff, elected officials, the general public, County department heads and County employees in oral and written communication.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Experience conducting needs assessments and preparing corresponding reports documenting the results
  • Knowledge of city building and planning code requirements
  • Knowledge of public sector administration
  • Knowledge of construction project management
  • Experience preparing technical specifications and contract documents
  • Knowledge and experience in reviewing design details for proper waterproofing, plumbing design, electrical design, heating/ ventilation /air conditioning design, structural design, surveying, and /or construction experience.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating
  • Knowledge of State Jail Standards
  • Experience working with detention facilities
  • Knowledge of county government accounting and purchasing requirements.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Oracle and Kronos.
