Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is responsible for designing, deploying and administering cloud environments and related services. This individual will help build consistent release management strategies that ensure deployments are on-time and to specifications. Leverage tools and scripting to automate routine tasks. Serve as a mentor for other team members on cloud technologies and services. Plays a key role in the Credit Union’s service and support organization and enables business units to reach their goals by supporting various projects and by maintaining the, integrity and availability of IT services. Helps to define technology standards including policies and procedures.


Cloud Infrastructure Management (40%)

  • Design and implement scalable cloud environments, including tools, services, security and monitoring
  • Leverage automation tools and technologies to streamline utilization of cloud environments
  • Assist in application readiness assessments, including application mapping, to understand application dependencies
  • Follow cloud strategy, leveraging cloud resources where suitable
  • Plan and implement and administer Office365 services

Release Management (20%)

  • Create and optimize release management strategies and processes
  • Partner with business teams on solutions and deployments
  • Leverage tools and automation to improve consistency and efficiency
  • Deploy solutions that improve performance and operational efficiency

Infrastructure Support and Service Availability (20%)

  • Manage core infrastructure technologies including, but not limited to: VMware, SAN Storage, Exchange and Active Directory
  • Keep backup systems functional and patched
  • Manage monitoring services to measure service availability, resource utilization, capacity management, event logs and application performance
  • Create and maintain infrastructure documentation including procedures, standards and environments
  • Work with vendors to troubleshoot, upgrade and deploy systems
  • Design, implement and maintain highly available solutions
  • Conduct disaster recovery and business continuity testing to assure readiness
  • Conduct proactive capacity planning to support future demand

Incident Management and Request Fulfillment (10%)

  • Participate in after-hours systems support activities and on call rotation as required
  • Complete incident and service request tasks in adherence to ticket management procedures, in order to meet service level agreement (SLA) expectations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
  • Conduct root cause analysis and action preventative planning

Work effectively as a team and ongoing self-development (10%)

  • Mentor staff on cloud technologies and services
  • Stay abreast of current technologies
  • Proactively find ways to support the IT team goals and recommend solutions
  • Effectively manage time and resources

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Information Technology related field preferred


  • Two (2) years demonstrated experience managing cloud environments within an enterprise environment required
  • Two (2) years of specialized experience utilizing Docker Containers, Kubernetes and/or Git preferred
  • Two (2) years’ experience managing infrastructure technologies including VMware, Active Directory and SAN Storage preferred
  • Knowledge of .NET, Python and PowerShell preferred
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications, etc.

  • Demonstrated excellence in network and data security practices and policies
  • Demonstrated knowledge in designing and managing cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Google cloud)
  • Superb analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) with the ability to communicate effectively with staff of varying technical expertise
  • High level of organization and prioritization
  • Proven experience in solving problems and researching issues with minimal supervision
  • Assist in defining and developing complex systems
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background screening, including FBI fingerprint search, credit check, and education and employment verification
