DIVISION: Information Technology
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Performs highly complex (senior-level) computer systems analysis work. Work involves planning and analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems.  Primary areas of responsibility include administration of a configuration management database, discovery management and system administration. May assign and/or supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
WORK HOURS:
Eight-hour work schedule between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, 40-hour week, Monday – Friday with occasional work schedule variance when necessary. Perform on-call duty on a rotational basis. May occasionally work evenings, weekends, or holiday. Hours may change based on business need.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CMDB Administration
Support the management CMDB (Configuration Management Database) component installation, patches, updates and upgrades 
Provide implementation and support packages and physical parts of discovery patterns
Provide architecture and deployment documentation
Monitor stability and performance SLAs, implement associated best practices
Provide administration support of system settings, limits, and configuration items
Maintains events and event configuration 
Provides support to our backups and disaster recovery readiness plan and recovery support activities 
Provides support with the connectivity and communication between server, gateway, probe and client 
Will support the usage of the administration console functions under the guidance of the Senior Configuration Management Administrator
Administers security, users, profiles and permissions
Creates and deploys rules at the system level 
Works with customer support to resolve issues
Discovery Management
Works under the direction of the Senior Configuration Management Administrator with the Discovery Manager and database administration teams on administration, support and incident management
Assist with setting up discovery schedules
Supports the deployments and maintenance of our integration patterns to external applications 
Supports the retrieval and installation of updated discovery patterns and dependency mappings 
Works with the Senior Configuration Administrator, CMDB Configuration Manager (CM) and Asset Manager (AM)
Runs on-demand discovery
System Administration
Document system requirements, configurations, procedures, changes, incidents, and problem resolutions
Recommend procedures, standards and techniques
Maintain security controls over systems
Maintain records of system performance and operations
Analyze, recommend, and implement system changes for efficiency and performance;
Perform capacity planning;
Prepares training materials and conduct training sessions
Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Four (4) years' experience performing hands on systems administration (Windows, AIX, Linux and/or Macs)
Two (2) years' experience with configuration management
One (1) years' experience administering HPE UCMDB
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years' administering HPE UCMDB including hands on experience with:
UCMDB/DDM GUI 
UCMDB TQL (Topology Query Language) 
UCMDB views and reports 
Three (3) years' experience with configuration management
SUBSTITUTION:
One (1) additional year of experience performing configuration and auto-discovery work may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).
LICENSES/CERITIFICATIONS: 
HP ATP – Configuration Management System (CMS) v10” certification (or equivalent) is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
CMDB and Configuration Management Systems (CMS) concepts 
TCP/IP network topology and configuration
Operating system configuration and client installation (Windows, VMware, AIX and Linux)
Basic database administration and connection
Application discovery
IT Service Management (ITSM)
SKILL IN:
Windows administration (WMI, Domains, NETBIOS/drive mapping/windows networking, and connectivity) 
AIX/Linux administration (Shells and scripting, Networking concepts,  Administration commands used for discovery)
Database administration and connectivity
Basic MSSQL or Oracle user skills, ability to interpret system-level SQL statements used for discovery 
SQL knowledge, SQLPlus for Oracle, Enterprise Manager for MSSQL 
Basic understanding of basic database architectures and protocols, e.g., table spaces, allocated disk space, etc. discovered database resources, ODBC and JDBC
J2EE: Basic understanding of java and J2EE application architectures, EJB, administration consoles, J2EE servers and domains, and JDBC
effectively conveying information and encouraging an exchange of ideas (Communication)
identifying, defining and solving problems (Problem Solving)
