General Responsibilities:
Terracon has an opportunity for a Dispatcher/Scheduler to join our Materials Department in Austin, Texas.  Our Dispatcher/Scheduler will schedule and dispatch materials technicians and inspectors for construction projects where the technicians and inspectors test and inspect soils, concrete, asphalt, structural masonry, reinforcing steel, wood framing, fire stop systems and structural steel at construction projects throughout the Austin, Texas area. This is a fast-paced position which requires multitasking use of phone, email and text communication with client representatives, contractors, project managers and technicians.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:
  • Plan, schedule and dispatch technicians to construction project sites based on the project needs, the technician skill set, certifications, location, and priority.
  • Effectively communicate testing and inspection assignments and schedules to technicians and contractors.
  • Communicate test and inspection results to contractors.
  • Assist project managers with communication of plans, specifications and project requirements to technicians.
  • Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.  Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work.  Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience
  • Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Google Maps and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Preferred Experience:   
  • Construction administrative or technical background with understanding of building and construction terminology.
  • 1-2 years dispatch/schedule experience.
  • Experience as a materials technician or inspector.
  • ACI certification in one or more of the following areas:
    • Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
    • Concrete Strength Testing Technician
  • Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operations
