The Lead Server acts as a working team leader and oversees the dining staff to ensure the smooth operation of daily duties. You’ll ensure completion of all dining room opening and closing duties as established by your community, dietary department and specific area of responsibility.

What we look for in a Lead Server:
¨ A big smile, eagerness to learn, and compassion for our Residents
¨ Food Handlers Card, as required by state or county regulations.
¨ Create an atmosphere of customer respect in a clear, customer-focused vision, based upon the Spectrum Retirement mission and philosophy.
¨ Consistently create a satisfying dining experience, according to resident preference and the Spectrum Dietary standards and policies.
¨ Report any noticeable change(s) in resident’s condition to appropriate management team members.
¨ Read, understand, and know what to do in case of fire or other emergency as outlined in the Community Emergency Plan.
¨ Develop systems and process to ensure the department runs efficiently and effectively, provide staff education if necessary.
¨ Frequent transporting of residents in wheelchairs.
¨ Follow proper staffing as scheduled and ensure that there is sufficient staff to meet the needs of the residents, the family members and guests.
¨ Follow established reporting procedures for supply and equipment needs, damaged, unsafe, malfunctioning equipment and on-the-job injuries.
¨ Have proficient understanding of the role budgetary guidelines play in day-to-day duties and responsibilities.
¨ In consultation with the Director of Food and Beverage, hires, trains, leads, coaches, disciplines and terminates departmental employees in accordance with company policy.
¨ Under the direction of the DFB, establish, implement, document, review, and ensure compliance with integrated procedures and systems to ensure the success and productivity of the Dietary Department.
¨ Comply with all state, local, and federal rules, regulations and licensing requirements related to health, safety (OSHA) and general operations of the Dietary Department.
Lead Server Work Experience:
¨ Knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling standards.
¨ Previous relevant experience preferred
¨ Ability to monitor the daily developments and progress of work; keep informed about details of Dining Room changes.
¨ Ability to coordinate with supervisors when group action is needed to solve a problem and get cooperation of other departments within the community.
¨ Ability to talk respectfully with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of Residents, families, visitors, peers, managers, subordinates, and other outside contacts.
¨ Strong customer service attitude/presentation.
Lead Server Educational Requirements:
¨ Minimum requirement of high school diploma or equivalent.
