Under general supervision the Equipment Operator, provides street, sidewalk and drainage maintenance for the City of Round Rock. Work involves evaluating project needs and creating effective maintenance and repair plans.
- Examples of Duties
Plans assignments by evaluating project needs and performing pre-project inspection of site; gathers all necessary tools and materials; maintains working knowledge of all equipment; sets up equipment on sites; maintains effective working relationships with employers and the public; ensures maintenance of work vehicles, equipment, and tools; sets up and takes down work zones; maintains knowledge of the drainage systems; manages records of equipment use, timesheets, and vehicle repair/preventative maintenance; loads and unloads equipment.
Oversees city maintenance by pouring and finishing concrete; backfills forms with soil; operates and maintains knowledge of various heavy equipment; performs rough carpentry work; operates mowers and tractors as needed in an assistance capacity; cleans ditches and picks up trash; performs patching of concrete and asphalt; utilizes various landscaping materials; repairs and installs new drainage pipes; ensures site is stable after project completion.
Assists in other duties by coordinating storm and brush clean up; cuts up tree brush to be loaded and transferred away from site; maintains time sheets; and submits vehicle requests for repairs.
- Experience and Training
High school graduation or GED equivalent.
Three (3) or more years of experience as an equipment operator.
- Certificates and Licenses Required
Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement; Work Zone, Flagger, Backhoe, and Skid Steer Certification.
