Our Engagement Controller practice helps clients define what they need and how it can be delivered. We work with clients to define their projects' scope in as much detail as possible using advanced financial, budgeting, and forecasting techniques. We provide realistic cost estimates that account for projects' phases and activities, people, materials, hardware, and software and produce the best- and worst-case estimates using leading-edge project and client management software to keep clients' projects on track and on cost.
Work You'll Do
As a Summer Scholar in our Engagement Controller practice, you'll team and collaborate with other controllers to help assist Deloitte project managers in maintaining compliance with clients' policies, perform internal financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost variance analysis in addition to managing projects' billing and receivables process. You'll also monitor project performance and determine improvement areas by analyzing key performance indicators. On any given assignment, you may help to improve internal processes and directly communicate strategies and analytical results with your Engagement Controller team to help keep projects on track and within the scope of cost. Your summer will conclude with a presentation outlining your networking and client service experience in front of a panel of Engagement Controller Senior Leadership. This person should have strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to solve complex problems and communicate findings.
Our Engagement Controller practice helps clients define what they need and how it can be delivered. Using advanced financial, budgeting, and forecasting techniques we provide realistic cost estimates that account for projects' phases, people, materials, hardware, and software. We produce the best- and worst-case estimates using leading-edge project and client management software to help keep clients' projects on track and on cost. We manage risk by performing financial analysis and reconciliations to keep project variances in check. You will work in a team composed of management, both senior and junior staff along with team members in India. This team dynamic provides unique perspectives that will enable you to grow as a financial advisor and gain a well-rounded insight into the Engagement Controller practice.
- Junior standing in a full-time academic program with a target graduation date between December 2019 and June 2020
- Pursuing a Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management or related area
- Strong academic track record (minimum GPA of 3.2)
- Availability to work full time during the course of 10 weeks (June to August 2019)
- Solid understanding of fundamental accounting and finance principles
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
- Ability to travel 80-100%
