Directs and coordinates the operation and maintenance of the Georgetown Municipal Airport, including the airport terminal, aircraft refueling facilities, and all other city-owned facilities and grounds at the airport.  Ensures that the airport is operated in a manner that provides a high level of safety and customer service to the users of the airport and the citizens of Georgetown. Ensures compliance with all State of Texas and federal and local regulations and obligations regarding airport operations.


•Supervises airport personnel that manage the operation of the airport terminal, aircraft refueling facilities,
 maintenance of the airport grounds, conduct safety inspections and produce safety and environmental compliance reports.
•Performs the ongoing Airport Master Plan process, including updates, monitoring and special studies that are performed as part of the Airport Master Plan.
•Negotiates agreements or leases and ensures that the airport leases are in compliance with the terms of the lease, and that the airport is in compliance with state federal safety regulations, and manage and lease City owned hangers.
•Supervises the preparation and management of the annual Airport budget and coordinates financial reporting with the Airport Business Operations Coordinator and Utility Financial Analyst.
• Manages special airport projects provide for in the annual budget (i.e. TXDOT grants, construction oversight).
•Ensures that the annual TxDOT Routine Airport Maintenance Program (RAMP) is completed.
•Develops and administers airport grants for airport rehab projects and new construction, and ensures that all grant documentation is provided to the Airport Business Operations Coordinator.
•Develop and administer the Airport Minimum Standards document and procedures.
•Acts as liaison with City, TxDOT Aviation, Federal Aviation Administration, and public.
•Provides staff assistance to Georgetown Transportation Advisory Board.
•Coordinates with other City Divisions and Departments on development process and economic development activities related to the airport.
•Demonstrates support of the Safety Program by serving as a role model and through discussions and training of employees.
•Manages airport response to emergency management and emergencies,(i.e., respond to emergency, coordination of activities, and related safety factors, and medical service and human services.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Aviation, Business or Public Administration or closely related field.  Five years of full-time experience in airport management, two years of the required experience which must have been in a supervisory capacity. OR Any equivalent combination of experience, education/training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of the required education up to a maximum of four years. 

EMPLOYMENT TESTING: •Employment is contingent on passing post-offer, pre-employment drug testing and criminal background investigations.


Knowledge of:

•Technical knowledge sufficient to manage airport operations.
•Current applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing airport management.
•Grant application processes.

Skill in:

•Detecting, identifying and eliminating potential safety hazards and threats.
•Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with City employees and clients and regulatory agencies.
•Performing complex business procedures;
•Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
•Developing and monitoring budget and performing variety of mathematical functions related to fuel sales, etc.
