    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience, with recent involvement with pneumatic and computerized energy management control systems. Incumbent must have considerable knowledge of air conditioning systems.

    SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    This position must have manual and finger dexterity arid the ability to use tools, gauges, and materials relevant to trade, must be able to tolerate work in a noisy environment and be able to access hard to reach sub floor or high ceiling equipment. Incumbent must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and DDC flow diagrams, and must be computer literate to work with various control and personal computers.

    JOB PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:

    This position repairs and maintains air conditioning and heating equipment controls, including the computer energy management system, electronic and pneumatic controls and calibrates all HVAC related systems.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Checks, resets, replaces, repairs, or calibrates electrical, electronic and pneumatic controls.
    • Installs repairs and calibrates various manufacturers’ devices, including pneumatic controls, chiller controls and building energy management systems.
    • Repairs or calibrates variable frequency drives.
    • Installs, replaces and calibrates various sensors, pneumatic and electronic controls.
    • Documents completed work on computerized work order system.
    OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:

    Perform other related duties as assigned; however, all employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare situations driven by need where a team effort is required.

    PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed in crowded and congested areas in crawl spaces under buildings or on high ladders with a considerable interfering noise level. Hazards are electrical shocks and lifting weights in excess of fifty (50) pounds. Conditions include temperature changes from weather, dirt, dust, oil, wetness, glare, and draft. OSHA category for blood born pathogens for this position is Category III, which involves no exposure to blood or body fluids.

    PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:

    This position reports directly to the section Foreman and Supervisor for Buildings and Grounds, and will directly supervise Maintenance apprentice in this craft or other mechanics who lack electronic, pneumatic and computer skills. Incumbent will provide recurring guidance and consultation to the Energy Management Office and the Maintenance Department and Construction Management.

    COMPENSATION:
    Duty Days: 261
    Pay Grade: MP01
    Starting Salary: $18.77/Hr
