    ACE AUSTIN AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM

    Temporary/Hourly Position – 10 to 19.5 hours per week, minimum of 3 days per week Monday through Friday,

    2:00 - 6:00 PM, No Benefits

    Location: Community Ed/Elementary Schools


    Job Purpose and Responsibility:
    ACE Austin Afterschool Program is looking for enthusiastic, active and creative leaders to guide students through various enrichment classes in Austin’s premier afterschool program. The Afterschool Instructor will lead activities aligned to program goals in the following subjects: Technology, Chess, Music, Fine Arts, Dance, Crafts, Sports, or other areas of interest. Instructors will work in teams and will deliver afterschool program curriculum to elementary school youth, grades K – 5th. ACE Austin will provide 20 hours of initial paid training along with on-going support to ensure instructors will have the foundation to lead afterschool activities. This position is under the supervision of a program Site Coordinator. The schools are located in northeast and southeast Austin.

    The ideal ACE Afterschool Enrichment Instructor will:

    -Demonstrate reliability, functionality, and commitment to helping students thrive

    Essential Functions:
    -Attend training sessions before start of program
    -Lead afterschool activities and lessons
    -Deliver activities using materials provided by Coordinator
    -Review lesson plan materials on a regular basis and, when necessary, meet with curriculum specialist to discuss strategies to better serve students
    -Follow established guidelines in managing student behavior
    -Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent
    Some college

    Experience:
    Previous experience working with youth helpful but not required

    Knowledge and Skills:
    -Demonstrated skills in communication, planning, and organizing
    -Ability to work as part of a team
    -Passion for working with youth

    Salary: $13.00 per hour
