Position Summary

The Electronics Design Engineer - Technical Lead is a key team member involved in the development and testing of dispenser electronic components such as LCD video displays, contact and contactless card readers, secure cryptographic devices, scanners and printers. This is an individual contributor position reporting to the Manager, Hardware Engineering. This role is also expected to serve as a Technical Lead managing assigned programs to ensure technical resources are performing effectively. This role will coordinate multiple projects in partnership with Program Managers to ensure alignment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and test embedded hardware components and systems used in the global fuel dispensing industry.
  • Work with customers and marketing team to understand requirements and technical tradeoffs to develop viable product solutions.
  • Work closely with suppliers to develop new engineered products and support existing products.
  • Work with agency engineers to ensure compliance with certifying agency standards.
  • Work closely with software team to make firmware modifications to existing platforms.
  • Perform technical leadership role for cross functional engineering teams in DFS organization for key projects.
  • Drive process discipline and accountability throughout the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion of projects.
  • Business Acumen:Understand the business processes enabled by the products supported and contribute to the solution definition.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong electronics development knowledge.Understand the technology concepts used on projects in enough depth to challenge assumptions, estimates, approaches, and risks. Possess general understanding of technical design, implementation, and quality assurance.
  • Adaptable: Flexible during times of change. Adjust to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Collaboration: Elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, peers, and other functional teams.Think outside the box to drive to creative solutions when challenges arise.
  • Conflict management: Ability to defuse tension among project team, and facilitate constructive discussion to reach resolutions.

Candidate Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required in an Engineering discipline with a minimum 3 years of electronics hardware development experience
  • Experience designing custom analog/digital PCBs and managing manufacturing processes for mass production (Altium Designer preferred)
  • Passion for designing innovative products and solving critical product reliability issues
  • Experienced user of revision control systems and engineering change management
  • Excellent lab skills and knowledge of lab equipment (power supply, oscilloscope, current probes, DMM, data acquisition tools)
  • Understands the need for solid documentation as essential to the design process and has necessary skillset to produce quality engineering documents (product specs, design presentations, test plans, test reports)
  • Ethernet, serial communication (CANBus, RS485, RS232), USB, video/audio development experience preferred
  • Experience developing and testing electronic hardware components such as custom LCD video displays, backlight driver boards, segmented displays, or touch sensors preferred
  • Experience integrating various display interfaces (ie. HDMI, LVDS, DVI, TTL) preferred
  • Experience in developing products with international agency compliance (CE, FCC, UL, RoHS) preferred
  • Strong collaborative and influencing skills
  • Experience managing new product/technology introductions is strongly preferred

  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced team environment
