Job Summary

We are looking for a Medical Information Physician Editor, who will develop, optimize, and edit digital content relied upon by clinicians at the point of care.This role requires significant interaction with editorial, product, engineering, and publishing teams. The position ideally will be based in our office in Austin, TX.  But enough about us; let’s talk about you.
 
You’re a physician with strong broad-based clinical skills, understanding of evidence-based medicine, and awareness of emerging medical advances. Your passions include creating and curating clinical content that will support physicians as they care for patients.
 
The Team: Our Medical Information team delivers the Epocrates content that more than 1 million health care providers trust in the moments of care, saving them valuable time and keeping their focus on patients.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • You will develop, edit, and review clinical content for the broad array of Epocrates clinical references and point-of-care applications, including general medical content and specialty-specific content
  • You will lead a team of copywriters who draft and edit a variety of clinical content types
  • You will contribute to product development efforts, collaborating with groups like marketing, product, and engineering to innovate the Epocrates app
  • You will collaborate with other members of Medical Information on clinical content projects, including review of Epocrates Rx drug information and medical news
  • You will serve as a liaison to various government agencies and medical specialty societies, and will collaborate on initiatives that serve Epocrates clinician users.
 
Typical Qualifications
  • Medical school: MD/DO degree with a valid medical license in any state
  • Certification: Board certification in a medical specialty preferred
  • Post-graduate training: Completed residency at an accredited U.S. training program required
  • Clinical Experience: 5 years minimum of clinical practice experience
  • Work Experience: Academic, medical/scientific publishing, or healthcare technology assessment experience desirable
  • Broad and comprehensive clinical knowledge base; ability to discern clinically relevant information from extraneous information; ability to create succinct decision-trees and algorithms from complex specialty-specific guidance
