  • Overview

    Provides customer services processing both business and individual banking transactions and cross-selling bank services. Also responsible for effectively promoting and selling all retail products and services, providing all aspects of customer service, and developing strong, personal, multiple product relationships with customers by performing the following duties:

    Must be able to work M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Alternating Saturdays 8:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

    Responsibilities

    Teller
    -Ability to operate teller machines
    -Accepts checks and cash for deposit
    -Verifies coin and currency
    -Examines checks for endorsement and proper presentment
    -Cashes checks - pays out money after checking item for proper presentment,signature, endorsement, stop payments, account balance
    -Processes loan payments
    -Gives customer's balances or instant statements on request for deposit and loan accounts
    -Processes stop payments
    -Keeps teller drawer counted down according to drawer limits
    -Balances teller drawer daily
    -Knowledgeable of Bank's products and services
    -Sells cashier's checks, money orders, traveler's checks
    -Balances cash vault daily, if needed
    -Processes lock bags delivered by courier and customer
    -Prepares shipment to/from vault, where applicable
    -Processes savings deposits and withdrawals
    -Accepts and processes items to be sent for collection
    -Redeems savings bonds
    -Exchanges foreign currency
    -Accepts and processes bank-by-mail deposits
    -Checks night drop daily and processes transactions
    -Prepares change orders for customers daily
    -Balances branch stock of traveler's checks
    -Assist customers in gaining access to their safe deposit boxes, where applicable
    -Ability to distinguish currency and other documents processed in teller operations

    Personal Banker
    -Open new accounts (matching needs with appropriate products)
    -Process consumer loan applications (including the initial interview and the denial or the approval and loan closing/funding)
    -Answer questions providing accurate information or making the proper referral if necessary
    -Remain alert to possible fraud situations. Act promptly to safeguard bank and customer assets when questionable transactions are requested by existing or potential customers
    -Provide notary and signature guarantees

    Sales
    -Answer questions providing accurate information or making the proper referral if necessary
    -Develop strong relationships with customers (including but not limited to: follow-up letters and calls, acknowledging and greeting customers in the lobby,calling customers by name, etc.)
    -Develop new account relationships with prospective customers (business development contacts)
    -Actively and enthusiastically participates in the Bank's retail sales program, Aim for Performance, by: selling and promoting all retail products and services (including, but not limited to:
    depository accounts, consumer loans, overdraft protection, IRA's Safe Deposit Boxes)
    -Answer questions providing accurate information or making the proper referral if necessary
    -Becoming familiar with all of American Bank subsidiary products and services - looking for and recognizing opportunities to refer customers, based on their financial needs, to the appropriate individuals
    Striving to meet or exceed quarterly Aim sales referral goals which include daily cores sales, cross sell to new ratio, loan production and partner referrals.

    Customer Service
    -Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
    -Consistently interacts with internal and external customers in a manner consistent with the Bank's professional and behavior standards

    Qualifications

    -One to two years in banking or related field
    -Previous Teller experience or extensive cash handling and balancing experience required
    -Previous new accounts or Personal Banker experience preferred but not required
    -Excellent customer service skills
    -Flexible regarding schedule
    -Thorough knowledge, comprehension, and benefits of all retail policies and procedures
    -Professional image (business attire and etiquette, telephone etiquette, and interviewing skills)
    -Pro-active personality (ability to seek out and ask for business instead of waiting for it to come)
    Excellent written and oral communication skills
    -Available to work Saturdays, evenings and holidays
    -High school graduate or equivalent
